Founded as a Trust in the year 2009, Guru Smruthi Kala Kendra (G.S.K.K.) has been working with dedication in the education and training of versatile and resourceful musicians for the skills they need in this everlasting journey. "Guru Smruthi" means 'Tribute to Wisdom'. Every student possesses a possibility of a potential miracle. We consider it our deep commitment to explore that possibility to expand, educate and open the door to the joyful learning of music. We believe that learning music elevates the soul and strengthens the skills that can help you for life.
'LAYA SOURABHA' , a percussion ensemble, is an integral part of G.S.K.K. They have been giving stage performances at several prestigious venues.
G.S.K.K. has been organising several events such as the annual fest, 'Sangeetha Aaradhana Mahotsava' since 2003 and quarterly music concerts since 2009. These concerts are a collaborative effort featuring performances by maestros in their respective musical fields and upcoming artists to enhance aesthetic experience. So far, the trust has successfully organised 29 quarterly programmes at Sri Dattathreya Temple, Thyagaraja Nagar, Bangalore, with the gracious support of 'Datta Seva Dhureena' Sri N.L.Sripad, Secretary, Sankannacharya Trust.
In 2015, for the first time, G.S.K.K. took the initiative to honour the parents of its students, as it is with their continued support and commitment, that our young pupils aim to reach for the Stars.
The Aaradhana Mahotsava has proudly continued its journey with high spirits and good support of family members, parents, sponsors, artists, disciples, well-wishers and friends to pay tribute and homage to the incredible contributions made by vaaggeyakaras and music legends such as 'Karnataka Sangeetha Pitamaha' Sri Purandara Dasa, Saint Sri Thyagaraja, Sri Kanaka Dasa and others.
CD - 'Lambodaraya Namaste' rare Krutis on Lord Ganesha, was released in Jan 2007.
'LAYA SOURABHA', a text book on Mridangam released with lessons both in English and Kannada has immensely helped our students bridge the learning gap.
Since the last two years, in order to improve the confidence of students to perform onstage, musical sessions, "Nama Sankeerthana" are held close to Amavasya, especially on Sundays. At the same time, this is done to inculcate the tradition as a practice which has been a success.
